We are a municipal association for the municipalities of Karlshamn, Olofström, and Sölvesborg with a joint environmental office in Sölvesborg. We fulfill the authority tasks of our member municipalities in the field of environmental and health protection. We have about 30 employees focused on those we serve. This means we are informative and advisory but also set requirements and make the decisions needed to reduce environmental impact, increase compliance with laws, and contribute to a good business climate with healthy competition among companies and operations.

Our administration is organized with a staff, an environmental protection unit, and a food and health protection unit. You will be part of the environmental unit, which consists of ten people.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are now looking for an engaged and knowledgeable environmental inspector who wants to make a difference in the area of environmentally hazardous activities. As an environmental inspector, you will play an important role in ensuring a sustainable and safe environment for future generations.

In the role of environmental inspector, you will help plan and carry out inspections based on the Environmental Code. You will handle various cases and provide guidance to companies engaged in environmentally hazardous activities, such as quarries and industries. The work offers great variation with elements of both administrative tasks and practical duties in the field.

The role means that you are responsible for driving your cases from start to finish. You conduct inspections on-site, check for deficiencies, follow up and set requirements, and make decisions as needed. Part of the job is to provide information and advice to businesses, as well as collaborate with member municipalities. Contacts with the media may also occur. A professional approach is an important part of the work to create a good relationship with the companies and individuals whose cases you handle.

You will be part of a workgroup of about ten people, who together plan, implement, and develop inspection work and our working methods. Working with development is a natural part of everyday life. You plan and conduct your inspections independently, which creates flexibility for you.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• A university degree with a focus on environmental and health protection, or other education and work experience that the employer considers equivalent.
• Very good Swedish in speech and writing.
• Good IT skills and experience with the Office suite.
• Driver's license (manual transmission).

We would prefer that you have:

• Education in environmental law and/or administrative law.
• Experience from regulatory authority and inspections.
